3-0-1 (would have won my first round rather than drawing if I had two more combat steps), 6 prize packs, pulled a masterpiece stifle from the prizes!īombs in my deck were Oracle's Vault (just pure card draw, nuts in limited, I finished a game where I got it off on curve with 4 cards left in deck), Promo Gideon (yeeeeee), and then just a whole bunch of solid midrangey stuff. For the third time in four prereleases I've done, I ended up in white/black midrangey-control! And despite my deck being like 70% 2 and 3 drops, it actually played out like a prison deck a bunch of times, holding my opponent's big stuff down until I could go wide enough to finish them off with In Oketra's Name. Phew, finally recouped from that solid 6 hours of magic today (probably should have eaten something before going out, but woke up late). This is a change UltraPro made in general some time recently. The shuffle alone.Įdit: for those unaware, the Eclipses also FINALLY do away with the godawful hologram Ultra Pro puts on their regular sleeves. The current colors - even the darker blue - are a little too bright for my taste. I generally get black sleeves, mostly for utility - black hides scuffs/etc better. But one thing Ultra Pro has over every competitor is their variety of new colors, so I'm sure it won't be long until I have sleeve perfection in both style and utility. I've been meaning to pick some up, but I don't really like the available colors. These are GREAT and given the drop in Hypermat quality, I'll be replacing my Modern decks Hypers with Eclipses soon Amazing Shuffle feel, strong, and I really love that the interior back is black. Well, I needed new draft sleeves and the store had the Eclipses in stock so I tried them out. He was GUSHING about them, saying they are the best sleeves on the market right now. Me and my friend haven't been able to try this deck due to a lack of the right cards but if anyone could that would be greatly appreciated.ĭue to some cards being very very powerful in the format it may be necessary to restrict or ban certain martyrdoms or swamp entanglers (I know right?), but on the whole it seems pretty balanced between songhai and lyonar and hypothetically magmar too.If anyone follows Tolarian Community College, they may have seen the Profs review of the new Ultra Pro Eclipse sleeves. ![]() ![]() Dance of dreams, kajuta and then lots of 1 drops with 1 health. Magmar Mill - Ever heard of the twinfang deck? It's that without the twinfang. Kaleos' BBS is also very nice for keeping things out of reach. A very cool and risky play is keeping a hamon or two back to just deal the damage, but keep in mind that this can be a problem against a lyonar with martyrdom or magnetize. Songhai burn - Did you know that phoenix fire says ANY minion or general? Lantern fox is still as good in this format as it is in regular as is skill technique. Unfortunately though both of the general's BBS are only useable on friendlies :( The trump card though is martyrdom, destroy a minion and heal -_- has won my friend so many games. Divine bond can still end games pretty fast and magnetize can bring those shy enemies in for some huggin'. Lyonar heal - Sundrop elixrs and healing for all enemies as well as an impressive ability to buff the opponent. Cards like swamp entangler can finally see some use!Īs of now though, there appear to be 3 ways to do it: That being said, this is a great way to wind down from the ladder, have a bit of fun with your friends and do some crazy shenanigans. Therefore until there's a bit more diversity in ways to kill yourself, I can't see this being a competitive format. So in terms of long term ladders or competitions, things would get repetitive pretty fast. After playtesting a little more, I've realized there are some rally really cool cards and ways to lose faster than someone who sits there and plays nothing.Īn obvious problem with this is there are very few cards which allow for actively detrimental gameplay. ![]() So a few weeks ago I made a post about a little game mode I tried with a friend where the objective is to lose, rather than win.
